STAYCATION
Geoff took vacation this week, and we talked about leaving Lima to spend some time in the mountains, at the beach, or in the jungle. It didn't take long to come to the conclusion, with limited money and a long list of things that needed to be done around the house, that our dream of seeing more of Peru was not going to be realized. So, we opted for a "staycation," staying in Lima and doing a few things around the house and around the town. Here are a few pictures from our time off from work and school.
We bought soda from the States. We were all so excited to find these sodas in a local grocery store. Of course, we paid a hefty price for this taste of home.
We went to a local beach. Because kids in Peru are back in school now, we practically had the beach to ourselves. The kids had a great time playing...and the icy water did not bother them a bit.
We watched basketball all afternoon. Geoff and I love March Madness, so this was probably the highlight of our week.
We also spent time fixing toilets, purchasing things to finish the house in Santa Rosa, and trying to rid our home of the ever-so-pesky pigeons that constantly plague us (one of the joys that comes with living in the city). We bought barbed wire to put where the pigeons nest, and Eli commented that we could also play World War II with the extra wire. To which I replied, "I'm ready to go World War II on these birds." It's war!
When you guys say Santa Rosa, I have finally figured out that I am pretty sure its Santa Rosa de Pachacutec.... where the little one I raised is from, where we are involved with a few ministries and consider them "family." We need to introdice you to some of these friends someday! Love you guys!
